A system has some complexity. For expample, a governmental system is stuctured by the obligation to be educated, to work, to pay taxes. So, usually, black box is metaphorical the complexity of a system. Especially, economic system is quite intricate in the global market.
Today, I learned the word "austerity" through my English class in Asahi Culture Center, Nakanshima from an article by Paul KRUGMAN ("The Big Fail" Jan. 6th, 2013, NYT). My class is featured "current topics" , as the course name, so today we discussed about the way to stimulate for the better business condition. In the discussion, our lecturer Tad McNulty is explain meanings of that word from etymology. In the dictionary, the word "austerity" is described as "reduce a budget deficit", but he pointed out to pick up the adjective version "austere" and share the nuance of a word such like as harsh, plain, thrifty, cold, and so on.
To understand a meaning and to realize a concept is really different. The former is thinking in one's brain, however, the later have traced back to some scece. Therefore, when we meet some uncirtain situation, structure, action style, ordary system, it is not better to look up a word directly in a dictionary. Just as the word "realize" contains the word "real", to make a strict sense of the word, we have to imagine the world through comparing to the own expereince.
Also, today is the day of awareness the difference between simplification and easification. Because a semi-opened seminar was held in Outenin-temple in the evening, and a group presenter have modified an academic theory easily. At least, if the person wants to be a scholar, they knows that easy arrengement of the theory to explain simply to the others causes fatal to their academic life. An academic knows a theory is a kind of a system, so no academician easified components of a theory, if they simplified the theory for explanation.
